Volkswagen sponsors Food Network Star
It seems like Volkswagen is making more efforts this year to get its name heard and its logo seen outside of the automotive world. Last month the company announced the 2015 Golf SportWagen as the official vehicle of USA Cycling. This didn’t seem much of a stretch, especially when seeing the images of the bicycles attached to roof racks. Now this month comes the news that Volkswagen sponsors Food Network Star, a show which is now in its 11th season.
For those who don’t keep up with reality TV, “Food Network Star” is a show in which contestants compete to earn their own show on Food Network through a series of cooking challenges. Where does VW come in? Well, the show needs transportation to get the contestants to various locations, doesn’t it? That’s right, if you pay attention you’ll be seeing plenty of Volkswagen models during this season.
This sponsorship seems to be a way for Volkswagen of America to get the TDI models the attention they deserve. The Clean Diesel models of the Passat, Golf SportWagen, and Touareg are will all be the go-to mode of transportation for finalists throughout the season, plus there is to be a special “VW Challenge” episode, though we will apparently have to watch the show if we want any more information on what this challenge entails. We sincerely hope contestants will have to build delicious meals that look like VW models, but perhaps we’ve watched too much “Cake Boss.”
The newest season of “Food Network Star” started up June 7th and will run through August 16th, making it the perfect show to keep your summer evenings interesting. The “VW Challenge” episode is said to air on June 28th, for those out there who are just interested in cars.
