Volkswagen reveals 2016 VW Jetta GLI specs
For those not in the know, Volkswagen has finally revealed some new model year information, and it looks like we can expect a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI soon. Right now we’re waiting until Volkswagen reveals 2016 VW Jetta GLI specs, and hopefully clear details on the release date and pricing, but until then we’re still happy with the details available so far.
What do we know?
The 2015 VW Jetta GLI model year has the same responsive 210-horsepower, 2.0-liter engine found in the 2015 Golf GTI, and there are no plans to take it away for the newest GLI, though there also don’t seem to be plans as of yet for a performance package. It seems the biggest difference is going to be in the look of the new GLI, which is going to be much more appealing for those who like the front end of the GTI, but aren’t too thrilled with the “hot hatch” part. The 2016 Jetta GLI has a redesigned front and rear end, with a honeycomb grille that resembles its Golf counterpart, at least when shown in red. We think it does a good job taking the subtle sportiness of the 2015 model year and turning it up a bit. The rear end has gotten a redesign as well, but it’s a tad more subtle aside from the chrome-tipped exhaust pipes. Overall we think the new look will appeal to those who aren’t just looking for improved performance, but want the world to know it’s more than just the base model Jetta.

What will the features be like?
The truth is, there’s not much to improve when it comes to standard features. The GLI is both a sportier trim for the Jetta and a more premium one. Both the SE and SEL are well stocked, and the 2016 model year is expected to continue on with standard features such as a sunroof, rearview camera, heated and power adjustable front seats, keyless entry with push-button start and automatic climate control. Aside from getting the newest MIB 2 infotainment system, which will have improved smartphone integration, it seems there will be advancements in safety technology, including front and rear parking sensors and the Volkswagen Automatic Post-Collision Braking system. The GLI in particular will also have Blind Spot Detection and an Adaptive Front-lighting System which both help with visibility in their own ways.
The 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is expected to become available later this year. Follow use along here at our blog to stay up-to-date on information as it is made available.
