New tire specials in Orwigsburg PA

As spring springs into action here in the Orwigsburg area and precipitation tendencies start to shift from snow to rain, it’s time to consider the current state of our tires. If you’ve been using snow tires, is it time to switch to a summer set yet? If you’ve got all-seasons, how are they holding up (and is that the way to go in general)? We’ll answer those questions and tell you about where to go if you’re looking for new tire specials in Orwigsburg PA this spring.

When should I take off my winter tires?

If you’re one to switch from winter to summer tires and back, it’s around this time of year that you start to consider making the switch over to a set of summer tires, whether they’re the ones you used last year that are still in good shape or if you’re in need of new ones. Here’s the main thing: You don’t want to have to deal with the poor performance of summer tires if another snowfall or two sneaks in for us here. If you’re switching to all-season for some reason, it won’t be as big of a deal to make the change sooner, but if you’re going for summer tires hold off until there’s no more threat of snow.

Are my all-season tires in good shape?

If you keep one set of tires year round – which we wouldn’t necessarily recommend for ideal performance in either summer or winter – there’s a better chance that they’re in need of replacement because of longer-term wear and tear taking place.

One way to know is the old Lincoln penny test. Take a penny with Lincoln’s head on it, face Abe toward you with this head pointed down, and stick it in the tread of the tire. Can you see his entire head, nothing hidden by the tread? Then you’re too low!
