It’s National Bike Month and the 2015 VW Golf SportWagen has just been named the official vehicle of USA Cycling. While not everyone can turn time on a bicycle into a sport, that doesn’t mean we can’t go out and enjoy the fresh air in a more leisurely fashion. There are some great bike trails near Orwigsburg PA where you can go out and get some exercise while taking in a gorgeous view.

Weiser State Forest, located right here in Orwigsburg provides 10.8 miles of landscape to fulfill all your biking needs. The landscape will leave you feeling as if you’ve truly left the office behind. Plenty of wildlife and foliage make this a sight worth seeing. Which, considering the trail can get a bit difficult in spots, means you’ll have plenty to gaze at when you need a breather.

Located near Reading, PA is the Schuylkill River Trail. Though you’ll definitely have to plan to drive out for this one, it’s well worth it for the smooth bike ride near the scenic Schuylkill River. This is a great location for shade on hotter days and you can bring your favorite dog with as long as you keep him on a leash.

A bit closer to us is the Bear Hole Trail, located at Swatara State Park in Jonestown. Riders can expect around 5 miles to explore on their bikes. This is another trail that provides pretty good shading for those out to ride, though some riders have complained that, since it is also available for horseback riding, there are some places where the ground may be a bit uneven.

These are some of the most appealing trails we’ve found near the area, but we’d love to hear if you have a favorite you missed. If you’re thinking about heading out, but still need a bike carrier for your car, you can order accessories from our service department. We can even install it for you here at J. Bertolet Volkswagen.
