VW recently announced that the #PinkBeetle, originally revealed as a concept model at the 2015 New York Auto Show, will go into production as a 2017 Volkswagen model. Available as both a coupe and a convertible, the #PinkBeetle, the first vehicle to be named as a hashtag, will go on sale in fall 2016.

The Volkswagen #PinkBeetle will house the Beetle line’s standard 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine, making 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Also standard are VW’s MIB II infotainment system (which enables Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration via VW Car-Net App-Connect), a 6.3-inch touchscreen, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, three months of SiriusXM Satellite Radio, heated front seats, keyless access and a push-button ignition.
Exclusive to #PinkBeetle
While the #PinkBeetle will be available as either a coupe or convertible, both models share styling details unique to the special edition Beetle. The #PinkBeetle is exclusively offered in the Fresh Fuchsia Metallic exterior paint color. Inside, the #PinkBeetle’s dashpad is black with a surrounding pink accent and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Plaid cloth seat inserts are highlighted with a pink hue that matches the vehicle’s striking exterior color.
Available in fall 2016, the #PinkBeetle is already trending on social media outlets, thanks to its clever name.
