In October of 1964, Jack Bertolet Sr. took his opportunity to begin a Volkswagen franchise and has never looked back. Today, we remain one of the country's few single point VW dealers. What Jack Sr. had built, his sons, Jack Jr and Blayne Bertolet have taken to the next level. Born into the buisness, the brothers have known early on in life what they wanted to do. Almost a decade ago they were able to buy the business from their dad and continue with the family owned Bertolet VW, guiding it to the new millenium. Jack Bertolet Jr., chairman of Schuylkill United Way's board of directors, said the theme resounds over and over again. "When you think of it, that's what we should be doing every day - helping people," Bertolet said. "Like with the Red Cross. If someone's home burns down, the homeless need a direction, and need people to tell them it's going to be all right, and the Red Cross is there. At Big Brothers and Big Sisters, there are children reaching out for a mom, dad, brother or sister, someone to throw a football with, or just talk to. It's all because people like you give hope."
